WILDCARD WEEKEND RECAP

This is definitely my favorite time of year. Four must-watch, drama-filled games, two weekends in a row that I can give my full attention to. Pro football at its finest!
Before I get into the stats, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to the recent winners who have given back some of their cash prizes in the form of a cash tip to me and Mark for our ‘dedication and hard work’ (their words, not mine). Your generosity is much appreciated, and I wanted to put that into words for all to see.
So… we had TEN(!) members who went 4 for 4 and now have 10 big points to start off the Playoff pool. Eight members with 9 points, nine with 8, and twenty-six with 7 closely follow them. Lots of points being scored right off the bat for the top quarter of the league!

On the flip side, we had TEN(!) members throw up goose eggs and 24 people who didn’t make any picks at all. Apparently, some people don’t ever read my emails… owell.
I won’t take that personally as it’s obviously their loss, especially since they paid to be part of this “small” playoff pool that “only” pays 5k to the top 5 finishers.
($1500, 1250, 1000, 750, and 500).
Overall, the 176 active members scored 876 points, which averages out to 4.98 points per player – just under the average for Wildcard Weekend since 2013, but nowhere close to the 6.04 number from 2017…
January 2019 – 5.58 points per player
January 2018 – 4.21
January 2017 – 6.04
January 2016 – 5.03
January 2015 – 4.85
January 2014 – 4.95
January 2013 – 4.96
Let’s try to do better next week kids!
The Overall top 10 going into the playoffs hasn’t seen much of a shift after the first round of games. We basically have the same group of people, except for one dude… THEKINGBEEJ who’s now in 4th place Overall and on fire. He was in 52nd in Week 10 and in 20th to end the season. And this guy is NOT to be messed with! Since his rookie year in 2016, this constant money winner won Week 17, a Super Bowl square, and came in 1st Regular Season in 2017. And then in 2018 he had the most NFC wins, came in 5th in both the Regular Season AND the Playoffs, ohh and was last season’s Overall champ! Kid sure can pick ‘em!
As far as the tiebreaker for the $500 Bonus Elimination Pool goes, it took all weekend to determine the winner, but it was NLIQ33 who took HOU for 4 in the first match-up that ended up winning. With all four members taking both NE and NO for various point amounts, and in turn canceling each other out, it came down to the last game. If PHI had covered against SEA, CHUCKLES would have won, hitting both his 3 and 4-point games. But that’s not what happened, even though McGown played his old heart out. Check out the BONUS KEY page to see the chart breakdown. And next year we’re discussing the idea of this bonus pool continuing throughout the playoffs (not that it was needed since it began last season) instead of ending it with total score tie breaker on Wildcard Weekend.
MARXY has a commanding 8-game lead in the Overall category.
WILLY33 has a 5-game lead in the Rookie Race, and along with his jockey BRADELL, are atop the Combo Race, with a 7-game lead over the MARKBUCCA and TRABS team.
DEMO1 now leads the Veteran’s Pool with 151 wins, one more than MAJAHUITAS.
But with 22 more points available over the next few weeks, it’s truly anyone’s title to take in all five races… Overall, Playoffs, Rookie, Combo, and Veterans!
Good luck y’all!
