Dear FTPL members,
Welcome to our PLAYOFF website! A full explanation of how the playoff pool works can be found when you click on the “MY PICKS” tab.
Finally a week above .500 for the league, after being under 50% for 10 of the last 11 weeks! And that was after starting off above .500 for the first five weeks. The final total for good versus bad weeks is 7-10. Not great. And overall, we finished at 49% for the season, the first time under 50% since I started keeping track in 2015. Ugh!
1557 wins total out of 3049 games = 51% (191 people times 16 games, minus 7 from one guy missing the 1pm slots, and NINE complete no-shows hence the 191 number)
45 people had 10+ wins, 114 were 9-7, 8-8 or 7-9, and 32 had 6 or less
Congrats to WILLY33 for his 12-4 record and his Week 17 win. He was closely followed by eighteen people with 11 wins, nine of which hit their “Key Pick”. Same kid won Week 1 back in September, and last year during his rookie campaign, he was by far the big winner taking home over $7,000 in prize money. He may be asked to find another league to dominate next season, depending on how he does in the playoffs. He started the week at 4-3 but then went 8-1 to end it, breaking the hearts of the three people (HUMAROCK, TOBE5252, and YER MY BOY BLUE!) that started off hot at 7-0.
For this week’s “getting to know your fellow members” section of this email, please feel free to search “Week 1 2020″ in your email, it’s worth revisiting…
Moving on…
FINAL REGULAR SEASON STANDINGS
After being in first place for since Week 11, DEPERADO26 never looked back. Going 66-43 (.605) over the last seven weeks, only one person had a better run at 67-42, and that person finished in second place…
1st Place: DESPERADO26 – He wins $2,000 and is eligible for another $400 from a portion of the $1000 ‘Perfect Week’ pot (which is now being carried over into the ‘Perfect Playoff’ bonus). If no one goes 13 for 13, the other money will go to the Overall Champion ($400) and the Playoff Champion ($200).
2nd Place: BLUEBYEU – He wins $1,750
3rd Place: BJACOBCARR – He wins $1,500
4th Place: HE MAN WOMAN HATERS – He wins $1,250
5th Place: HARDEIGHT – He wins $1,000
MOST CORRECT “KEY PICKS” OVERALL
DSTREET29 put on a clinic this year going 14-2 on “Key Picks” and beating everyone else in the league by two full games. No one could touch him. Job well done! He wins $500 plus another plus $200 of left-over money for a grand total of $700!
(left over money is from the four weeks after the second “Key Pick” Elimination Pool ended in week 14. $250 x 4 = $1000 divided by 5 = $200, with the other four being Most Correct “Keys” in-a-Row, “Key Pick” Elimination Pool #1 and #2, and the Bonus “Key Pick” Pool)
MOST CORRECT “KEY PICKS” IN-A-ROW WITHOUT REPEATING
SUNSHINE PAINTING has fallen. After starting the off with 8 in-a-row and winning the first “Key Pick” Elimination Pool, he was unable to add to his total and stalled there, but it took the entire rest of the season for someone else to come along and steal the title from him. ANDREW HERSH went 9-0 (after hitting Week 1 and then nothing for the next seven weeks!) winning the second “Key Pick” Elimination Pool along the way. He wins $500 plus another plus $200 of left-over money for a grand total of $700! Anddddddd another $200 from left-over money (so really $900 total), and that’s on top of the $1,000 he already took home!
AFC CHAMPION
BLUEBYEU also won this category and a free entry into next season with 81 correct, 5 more than last season’s winner!
NFC CHAMPION
It’s DESPERADO again. He won this category and a free entry into next season with 74 correct, only 1 more than HARDEIGHT in 2nd place.
BEST OF 1PM
JALBANI also won this category and $250 (since he already has a free entry from the Santa Claus Prize) with 78 correct, 3 more than DESPERADO in 2nd place.
BEST OF 4PM
We had a tie between FORDIDLEY and WILLY33 for this prize, as both had 41 correct. WILLY33 wins the tiebreaker of total number of wins in the opposite category (1PM) and boy was it close… 59 to 58. Crazy
AND FINALLY… THE RACES THAT CONTINUE THROUGH THE PLAYOFFS
In the fifth week of the $500 Bonus Elimination Pool, only 4 people of the 9 (44%) were able to hit their “Key Pick” correctly in back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back weeks. And since there’s more than one person still alive, the official tiebreaker procedure as seen in the Rules and Regulations (Section 7, Subsection 2) is as follows:
2. Tie for Elimination Pool (standard and/or bonus) or most correct “key picks” in Week 17 specifically
a. Your two assigned 3-point games, head-to-head, during Wildcard Weekend
b. Your two assigned 2-point games, head-to-head, during Wildcard Weekend
c. Your two assigned 1-point game, head-to-head, during Wildcard Weekend
If still tied after Wildcard Weekend…
d. Your assigned 4-point game, head-to-head, during Conference Weekend
e. Your assigned 3-point game, head-to-head, during Conference Weekend
f. Your assigned 2-point game, head-to-head, during Conference Weekend
g. Your assigned 1-point game, head-to-head, during Conference Weekend
And so on through Championship Weekend and the Super Bowl, finishing up with:
h. Closest total score for the Super Bowl
i. Even split
(If you forget to provide a total score for the Super Bowl, option H is considered a loss)
So, if your name is listed directly below, you’re still in it, and there’s $700 on the line (500 from Bonus Pool + 200 from left-over money)

And finally…
ROOKIE RACE: CASEY13 still leads with 138 wins but her small 3-game lead over ALLBOUS is down to only 1-game
COMBO RACE: KENNEYPOWERS and NO FIREWORKS continue to lead with a combined 264 wins and have a small 2-game lead over KEVIN BOUDROW and HE MAN WOMAN HATERS
VETERAN’S POOL: DESPERADO26 still leads with his 150 wins. No surprise there…
I hope everyone is following along with all these extremely close races!!
Anything can and will happen!! Good luck in the playoffs everybody!!
