SUPER BOWL RECAP
Helloooooo and good evening fellow sports fans!
All I wanted for the Super Bowl was a competitive game… and surprisingly that did NOT happen! Three FGs by KC? Unreal. If KC had just played like they were capable of, the standings below would look a lot different. I don’t want to drop any names, but some people that took KC went from winning a bunch of money to winning much less or nothing at all (THE_BRIGADE, SHUTCH05, BLACKWALRUS, DIGGIDYDOGG, and T-BONE). And since there’s really nothing I can add to everything that’s already been said about what went down this past Sunday, I won’t. But mannnnnn, I sure do miss football already and it’s only been a few days…
As you alllll know, the big winner this year was DESPERADO26, and gawd damn did he clean up! Dude won Week 9 for $500, 1st place Regular Season for $2k, 1st Place Overall for $3,500, Veterans Pool for $500, NFC Champ for $250, and two $400 slices of the Perfect Week bonus money (since there wasn’t one, and still hasn’t been since this league began around the year 2000) for a GRAND TOTAL of $7,550 and that number breaks last year’s record setting total set by WILLY33 by over $500. Wow. Just wow! A truly amazing feat and clearly dreams do come true!
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
We had five members win over $2k including BLUEBYEU ($4k), ALLBOUS ($3,062.50), WIZ49! ($3k), SUNSHINEPAINTING ($2,700), and ANDREW HERSH ($2,150). All told, 39 people won money this year with an average of just over $1,170 per person. Please see the accompanying Excel chart showing the full breakdown.

One quick note about 3rd Place BOBBY CAL… kid goes 116-14 (45%) during the regular season, but then goes 9-4 (69%) in the playoffs hitting for a big 27 points. Not only is that impressive, but his hot playoff run took him from 172nd place all the up to 94th! That’s a 78-spot jump which just illustrates how important the 13 playoffs games are to the Overall standings!

Now this I gotta talk about since the only rule to this prize is making picks for all 269 games (256 regular season games + 13 playoff games). So SCAF625’s overall finish landed him in spot 179, ahead of 21 other people, but for various reasons those 21 members were automatically eliminated. The most common was missing picks during the regular season, but somehow make that one or two picks you missed, you play for free next year. A couple guys made picks all year and then ignored the Playoff Pool, or one guy (ANGRY_D) only missed the Division picks and yet made allll the rest. Instead SCAF slides in, and I’m sure this is a total surprise to him. One more tiny detail… going into the Super Bowl, TRABS was eligible for “Last Place Overall” but he took TB, while SCAF took KC, and the rest is history! A very fine line between a free entry and an awful season of picks…

Carrying money over to next season is preferred and very much appreciated. It’s at least one step less for both of us come September 2021 and cuts down on our endless administration duties.
Good luck to everyone and I hope all 200 members will join us again next season, but I know that won’t be happening. Every year we seem to lose 25-35 people, but that’s good news for anyone that is looking to get someone new into the league.
