DIVISIONAL WEEKEND RECAP

Mannnnnnn what a letdown after Wildcard Weekend, and even more so after last year’s Divisional games when many a headline called it the best set of four playoff games EVER with all four matchups being decided on the last play. Either way, good or bad, next weekend cannot come soon enough! In my mind nothing beats the Pro Football post season. And boy-oh-boy… if KC manages to run out the clock instead of giving up a late FG to JAX or if Dak actually does something besides doing nothings on 7 of 10 drives (2 INTs, 4 punts, and then we have whatever that last possession was), all the standings and charts would look much different in all five categories!

Moving on… this week 10 members went 4-4 to receive 10 big points, thirteen got 9 points, and another eighteen got 8 points. On the flip side, 11 people put up goose eggs and another 4 people scored only 1-point.

At the moment, HOTDADDYWAGS leads the Playoff Race with 20 points (only missing on BUF for 2 against MIA), JGREMILA has 19 (only missing on NYG for 2 and SEA for 1 in the first game of Wildcard Weekend), three people have 18, six have 17, and six have 16, but since there’s a total 12 points still left on the board, many many MANY people still have a shot to place in the Top 7 spots!
($1500, 1250, 1000, 750, 500, 250 and 250).

As a whole, the 204 active members this week (clearly many folks have given up and stopped submitting picks) scored 1085 points in the Divisional round, which averages out to 5.32 per player – basically the same as the 10-year average of 5.30, but certainly more than last season’s bottom of 3.94, but nowhere close to as good as 2021’s best outing of 6.53!

January 2022 – 3.94 points per player
January 2021 – 6.53
January 2020 – 4.19
January 2019 – 4.93
January 2018 – 4.57
January 2017 – 6.52
January 2016 – 6.16
January 2015 – 4.46
January 2014 – 6.32
January 2013 – 4.41

OVERALL STANDINGS: The Overall top 10 has shifted a bit after the second round of playoff games. TRABS fell from 2nd to 6th with his score of 5 and WILLY33 fell from 3rd to 10th with his score of 2. However, last week’s leader CPMELLO80 stood strong scoring 7-points and now holds a 2-point lead over HOTDADDYWAGS (as mentioned above) who with his 4-4 weekend jumped from 9th to 2nd overall! This kid is on fire! After a season of consistently putting up 7, 8, or 9 points every week (along with one 12 in Week 3 and only two 6s) this dude was in 23rd place after Week 17 and since then has put up three 10s in-a-row (Week 18, Wildcard, and Divisional) quickly moving him up the charts!

ROOKIE RACE: ODPETE1219 stillllllllllllll leads with 162 wins, and has since Week 5, and now BRUNO_D is 5-points behind.

COMBO RACE: Horse ODPETE1219 and jockey SEAMUSPK retook the lead and now have 3-point lead with a combined 310 wins over the ACOX987/JUNKINS40 combo, and the former leaders BRUNO_D/SETUCKETDAB are now 5-points behind.

VETERAN’S POOL: 5-year member SHUTCH07 took back the top spot with 165, 1-point over former leader TRABS, while 10-year member TOMMYK11 is 7-points behind with 158.

REC LEAGUE: DIME PIECES retook the lead and now have an 8-game lead over THE BEASTIE BALLS after getting the most points this week with a big 35, while BUBBA AND THE HEARTBREAKERS got the second most with 34.

With 12 more points available over the next few weeks, it’s truly anyone’s title to take in all five of the remaining races…

PLEASE NOTE: For the two games during Championship Weekend, you assign each game either 5, 4 or 3 points. The number that you do NOT use that weekend will be automatically designated as your Super Bowl value.

And lastly… on the OVERALL STANDINGS chart, if your name is in RED, it means you missed picking at least one game this year (most misses came on Thursdays) and in turn you are NOT eligible for the Last Place Overall prize.

GOOD LUCK TO THOSE WHO NEED IT AND WANT IT!!!

Dan
